On March 27-30, 2011, the Second China-America Frontiers of Engineering Symposium (CAFOE) , organized by the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was held in San Diego, California. The purpose of the conference is to facilitate collaborative work, the transfer of new techniques and approaches across fields, and establishment of contacts among the next generation of U.S. and Chinese engineering leaders.
Chinese delegation led by Academician Zhou Ji, president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the conference. China Bureau members included academician Zhong Zhihua (president of Hunan University)、academician Cheng Jing(CEO of Beijing CapitalBio)、porfessor Li Huajun (vice president of Ocean University of China )、professor Deng Weiwen(Automotive Expert of Jilin University)、professor Niu Zhisheng(Information specialists of Tsinghua University), etc. Professor Yang Guang was invited to the conference as one of the 30 Chinese delegates. Approximately 60 engineers – 30 from each country –gathered together to discuss leading-edge technologies in frontiering fields as wireless technology, bio-derived engineering, advanced vehicles and mobility, marine engineering, etc.
