The inaugural meeting of JSPS China alumni association and the 1st council meeting were held on November 20th at China Science and Technology Hall in Beijing. More than 160 members from all over the country attended the meeting and proceeded with the first council election. Professor Yang guang was elected as the first board of directors. The council first introduced cadre candidates, and carried on a discussion and confirmed the charter for the alumni association. In subsequent speeches of directors, professor Yang suggested that academic conferences in emerging intersectional fields should be regularly and systematically held in future and put forward the further strengthen of cooperation and exchanges between China alumni association and other Euramerican alumni association.
President of JSPS Ono Yuan first delivered an opening speech for the inaugural meeting. Later, minister Yamada of Japanese embassy in China and executive vice president of Scholar activity stations in Japan Miss Li Zandong issued congratulatory messages in succession. Division Chief of JSPS International Exchange Department Zhaoyan Jian published the speech "On the Alumni Association”. Professor Yumeka-Takami from Institute of Japanese culture in Tokyo University delivered a speech entitled "Review and Prospect of Sino-Japanese academic exchanges from the perspective of Law ". Later, the first President Professor YuXiang (Huazhong University of Science and Technology) generated by the approval process published a speech. An exchange dinner followed the congress. Researchers from various fields gathered together to expand mutual exchanges.
The congress provides a good opportunity for carrying out alumni association activities and enhancing horizontal communication among members as well as promoting continuous innovation by researchers in scientific field.
